A educational hygiene package

It is essential that all seafarers can safely eat the food served, without fear of getting sick or even die of diseases from food. Today it is well known from research and accidents with food, what makes people sick, and what can be done so that it does not happen again. It is a series of hygiene rules to be respected by all. The aim is to incorporate procedures in order to store and cook food, to ensure that hygiene rules are respected and self-assessment is written.

Seahealth develop guidance on how self-assessment can be performed on a ship. In addition, a training video is produced and materials to help you get started.

Purpose

The overall purpose of hygiene project is to develop a tool that is targeted to the seafarers and shipping companies can use to implement self-assessment e.g. in ISM / SMS. The focus of the hygiene project is in the galley and HACCP. The tool will be consistent with the statutory requirement in MLC 2006 3.2, and will be in line with the national provisions which will come from the Danish authorities in the field.

Contents

The training package will contain:

  • Hygiene Film in the languages ​​Danish, English and Tagalog (Filipino)
  • Guide and handout
  • Prints and posters
  • Electronic forms

Status and results

In spring 2010, researched in Denmark and Manila was done and a film is produced. Other materials will come.

The material is scheduled for completion beginning of 2012.
