Hygiene in the galley

Do you have the flow of raw materials fully under control, from loading stores to serving?  How to keep the pot boiling while maintaning tiptop hygiene.

Content and dividend

On this course, we focus sharply on hygiene and food safety and tell you how ships can comply with MLC 2006 in this area.

Delegates on the course get:

  • Insight into the importance of good hygiene
  • Knowledge of what the law says about food hygiene in a comparable staff canteen ashore
  • An overview of the most important rules to be complied with and why
  • Awareness of self-checking programs and ideas for how are you can yourself set up a program aboard
  • Knowledge of personal hygiene

Establishing good hygiene uniformly in a company with many vessels and different ‘cooks’ demands a good process. SEAHEALTH can provide support and inspiration for this if the company wishes. We can also design special courses on hygiene in the galley to cover the requirements of an individual situation. We can either set up a closed in-company course or one that is open for everyone with a maritime interest.
The closed course starts with dialogue between the company and instructors about the aims and objectives of the course so that delegates gain the knowledge and skills in hygiene that the company wishes them to receive.

Target group

The course provides a knowledge and inspiration for cooks, catering officers, stewards and foodies at sea.
