Communication and conflict management at sea

Conflicts are natural and can be difficult to avoid when people are together on a ship 24/7. Conflicts can have positive as well as negative outcomes for the crew aboard a vessel. The outcome depends on the way conflicts are resolved.

Seahealth Denmark now offers a course to help understand and deal with conflicts aboard. This is intended to benefit both individual well-being and the working environment aboard.

Aim and content

The aim of the course is to give you better understanding for dealing with and preventing conflicts aboard.

The course covers the following:

  • What is a conflict?
  • What makes conflicts?
  • How to spot conflicts in time
  • How to manage and resolve conflicts between two or more people
  • What tools are available
  • How to prevent conflicts arising aboard.

Delegates are involved in training as much as possible and are expected to play an active part.

Instructors
