SEAHEALTH Denmark is funded by shipowners with a mandatory contribution for each crew member. This is why many of our services are pre-funded. The legislation defines SEAHEALTH Denmark as an employer-funded scheme and accordingly seamen are not required to pay for our services.
Base funding covers for example
- Development and operation of chemicals and nearmiss databases
- Development of tools such as Safety & Health at Sea, A Good Working Life at Sea and Guidelines for Health Management
- Mapping health and safety issues at sea at the sector/company and vessel levels
- Development and analyse of knowledge for use in the sector, such as sector guidance, off-duty times and shipboard safety culture
- Development of courses and e-learning, e.g. management courses, workplace safety, stress, conflict management and courses on healthy food
- Development of concepts and solutions for dealing with the problems we come across on consultancy visits
- Publication of SøSikker (SeaSafe), films and promotional material and website information
- Presentations at shipowner and officer meetings, § 16 courses etc.
- Running the Service's Secretariat, including some tours aboard
- Crisis counselling services and counselling sessions.
Other assignments
Other services can be purchased. These are typically services that are very specifically targeted at an individual shipowner. We always give specific quotes before starting on an assignment. The introductory meeting on an assignment is always free. Just ask - we will find a solution.
These could for example be about:
- Taking certain noise measurements, fibre analysis, etc.
- Running themed days, courses, Quit Smoking processes or health profiles
- Consultancy to identify and implement solutions
- Assistance with emergencies as part of a treatment
Crisis counselling, psychological internet counselling, quit smoking, analyses and measurement services are invoiced on the basis of the actual costs involved. SEAHEALTH Denmark has often been able to negotiate favourable terms by way of more rapid assistance or lower prices.
